Karen Newbern
Council President & Liaison to Youth

I’m excited to be on the church council and serving as Council President and Liaison to the Youth Board. My husband Bruce and I joined Bay View when we moved to Sturgeon Bay in 2000. We have three daughters and four adorable grandchildren. My involvement here has been mostly musical, first singing in choir and now with the contemporary music group. I work as the Nursery Manager at Door Landscape and Nursery in Carlsville, a company specializing in the use of native prairie and woodland plants.

Andy Anderson
Council Vice President & Liaison to Service

I am a life-long Sturgeon Bay resident and work as the Rehab Manager at Door County Medical Center, formally providing physical therapy there since 2003.   I have been a member of Bay View since returning from the Army in 2000 and joined the council in 2020.  My wife Janet is the music leader at Bay View and I love playing drums/trumpet in the praise band.  We have three children: Austin 22, Autumn 18, and Alex 10.

Janet and I own and operate Anderson Studios, where we perform throughout the county and teach piano and trumpet lessons.  In addition to being a liaison to the service committee, I also serve on the endowment committee at Bay View.  I am a United Way of Door County Board member and serve on multiple committees with that organization as well.  I look forward to continued council membership and support of our great church.

Steve Kase
Council Treasurer & Liaison to Finance

I moved in Sturgeon Bay to practice law and joined Bay View in 1986 when I married Wendy Goetsch, a long time member of the congregation. I have raised four children and they have blessed me with seven grandchildren. I have served on church council several times and several committees including youth, worship, and sharing boards over the years and a member of our choir for more than 30 years. I was also very pleased to be a member of the call committee that brought Pastor Tim to our church ten years past.

Karen Isensee
Council Secretary & Liaison to Stewardship & Worship

My church roots are in Bay View: baptism, Sunday School, confirmation, and marriage to Kerry. But I branched out and was away for most of my adult life, working as a librarian and teacher in Minnesota, Missouri, Arizona, and then a different part of Minnesota, living in national and state parks where Kerry worked. We have two grown children, Karl and Kristen (married to Jason), and a granddaughter, Penny. Since retiring in 2012, we have lived back “home,” in the Hainesville area, very close to the farm I grew up on. As a council member, I look forward to serving and to knowing better our Bay View church family.

Jody Arbter
Council Member & Liaison to Learning

I moved to Sturgeon Bay in 1982 and became a member of Bay View in 1987. My husband, Arbie, and I have three adult children and they participated in Sunday School, Confirmation, and High School Youth Group. As they moved through all of the education activities at Bay View, I too was involved teaching Sunday School, mentoring confirmation, and being an adult leader for youth group. I have also been involved musically at Bay View playing flute. After working 37 years in the public schools as a Speech Language Pathologist, I retired in 2019 and am finding many activities to keep me busy. As a council member, I look forward to serving as the education liaison and getting to know more of the Bay View family.

Lucille Kirkegaard
Council Treasurer & Liaison to Finance

A member since 1978 I’ve had the privilege of teaching Sunday School, Confirmation and adult education. I’ve served on Sharing, Service, Administration, Endowment, Capital Campaign, and Call committees. On Church Council (9 terms) I’ve been President, Vice President and Treasurer. I cook, operate the dishwasher and coffee machine!  I pray Bay View will continue to build community within our congregation and reaching out as Christians to serve our neighbors near and far.

Bill Brown
Council Member & Liaison to Property

I was born and raised in Marinette, and spent the first part of my life there. Before relocating, I worked at a hospital there, beginning as director of corporate communications and finishing up as vice president of human resources. My wife, LouAnn, and I, and our daughter, Becky, moved to The Door in ’94, and I somehow ended up in the lodging field. After sixteen years, I retired as general manager at Glidden Lodge Beach Resort in 2016. I’ve since returned to my first love – writing. I self-published one e-book through Kindle Publishing, and have three or four other novels in various stages of completion. Also, I love to golf, although I haven’t enjoyed much of that in the last few years what with COVID and two hip replacements. And there’s nothing better than a grilling get-together in our back yard with the whole bunch!
